Conway Street, Brighton – Progress on Site

Works at Conway Street for Brighton & Hove Bus Company are progressing steadily, with the project now entering a highly visible phase on site.

Following the successful completion of enabling works and the demolition of several smaller existing buildings, construction of the new three-storey office is now well underway. The site has recently reached a key milestone, with sections of the primary steel frame now being erected. This marks a significant step forward, as the building begins to take shape above ground and gives a clear sense of the scale and layout of the new facility.

The phased construction approach continues to be carefully managed, allowing the existing office accommodation to remain fully operational while the new structure is delivered. This has required close coordination on site, ensuring that daily depot activities can continue safely and efficiently alongside ongoing construction works.

Progress is also being made across the wider depot, where works are contributing to the transformation of the site into a modernised facility. This includes preparations for upgraded maintenance workshops and the integration of charging infrastructure to support the transition to electric buses.

Given the site’s boundary with Network Rail to the north, construction activities continue to be planned and executed with a high level of care. Ongoing coordination with stakeholders is ensuring that works adjacent to the rail asset are undertaken safely, while maintaining programme momentum.

With steelwork now going up and the building emerging from ground level, the project is visibly advancing week by week. The coming months will see further progress, at Conway Street, as the structure continues to rise and the site evolves into a modern, future-ready depot.
