Arbour Vale School: A Sustainable, Modular Solution

Arbour Vale School Update: Expanding Facilities for Specialist SEN Education

We’re proud to announce the successful delivery of four additional classrooms at Arbour Vale School, a specialist school for students with special educational needs (SEN). This expansion was designed to meet the growing demand for specialised educational spaces, and our team ensured minimal disruption to the school by utilising modular construction.

A Sustainable, Modular Solution

To provide a quick and efficient build, we used Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), supplied by Lamella, as the core material. The classrooms were prefabricated offsite, ensuring a faster, more accurate build with less waste. The modular construction also meant we could complete the project with minimal disruption to the school’s daily activities.

Overcoming Site Challenges

The site presented some unique challenges, including a Thames Water sewer running beneath the area where the new classrooms were to be placed. To overcome this, we designed and installed a steel transfer structure, which worked perfectly with the modular approach. This solution ensured the building was securely placed without interfering with the existing infrastructure.

A Positive Impact for the Future

The new classrooms are now fully operational, providing modern, energy-efficient spaces for the students of Arbour Vale. This project demonstrates how innovation, sustainable practices, and collaboration can create high-quality educational environments that benefit both the school and the surrounding community.

We are excited to see the lasting impact these new facilities will have.
