Last weekend, colleagues from QED Structures’ offices in Hove, London, Manchester and Barcelona gathered for a Christmas trip at the beautiful Hollywood House in Blackbrook. The weekend was an opportunity to step away from day-to-day routines, connect with colleagues from across the business, and enjoy a mix of activities, relaxation and team-building in a winter setting.

Friday

Upon arrival, guests took time to settle in and make the most of the impressive surroundings. Whether it was enjoying a few games of pool, relaxing in the hot tub, heading out for a snowy walk, or even sledding, there was something for everyone.

The evening began with a casual dinner of pizza and our annual Secret Santa gift exchange, which brought about lots of good moments. This was followed by a lively round of charades and some karaoke. It was a relaxed and enjoyable start to the weekend, with a great mix of energy and good company.

Saturday

Saturday morning started with a full English breakfast, kindly prepared by our dedicated breakfast team, who woke up early to make it. The rest of the morning was free for people to enjoy the space in their own way; some roasted marshmallows in the log cabin, others had a pool tournament, while many went out for a walk through the snowy landscape.

In the afternoon, we split into teams to prepare our Christmas dinner. From peeling and chopping to cooking and clearing up, each group worked together and contributed to the meal. The teamwork shown was impressive, and it was wonderful to see everyone stepping up to make the meal a success.

As the evening approached, everyone changed into their evening wear for dinner. Before taking our seats, we paused for a group photo—a chance to capture the moment and appreciate the setting.

The Hollywood Quiz:

After dinner, we hosted the ‘Hollywood Quiz’, where teams faced off across a variety of film-related categories, from famous quotes to theme tunes. It was a close competition filled with good-natured rivalry and plenty of laughs. Congratulations to the winning team (Nigel, Izzy, Sam and Rob) who walked away with both the prize and the title of the evening’s quiz champions.

Casino Night:

The evening concluded with a professionally hosted casino night, complete with Blackjack and Roulette tables. Two experienced croupiers created an authentic experience as guests tried their hand at the games and competed for the top prize. At the end of the night, the guest with the most chips took home the grand prize.

It was the perfect way to end an unforgettable weekend!

Wrapping Up

This Christmas trip was a fitting way to round off the year. It was a great opportunity for everyone from different offices to come together, connect with colleagues, and create memories in a relaxed and informal setting. From the shared cooking and games to the laughter and friendly competition, it was a celebration of the team spirit that defines QED Structures.
