halloween highlights

Halloween at QED Structures is a great opportunity to take a break from the usual routine and spend time together in a more informal setting. This year’s activities included a costume contest, cupcake decorating, an office-themed “Trick or Treat,” and after-work drinks with games. Here’s a look at how the day unfolded.

Halloween Costume Contest

We started the day with a costume contest, themed around movie and TV show characters. The effort and attention to detail were impressive, with appearances from characters including Ghostface, the Grim Reaper, Tracy Turnblad, and Kermit the Frog.

The competition was close, but in the end, our winners were:

  • 3rd Place: Joe as Georgie from It, and Chloe as Dwight from The Office
  • 2nd Place: Ian as the unforgettable Beetlejuice
  • 1st Place: Samantha stole the show as M3GAN, taking home the £50 prize

More than anything it was a great way to start the day and an opportunity to come together, admire each other’s efforts, and have a friendly competition across the team.

Cupcake Decorating

Around lunchtime, we did some cupcake decorating where everyone was given one vanilla cupcake and one chocolate cupcake along with lots of toppings – coloured frosting, sprinkles, chocolate buttons, and more.

Some took a creative approach, designing seasonal themes like pumpkins or spooky faces, while others kept it simple with lots of colours, sprinkles and chocolate. We wrapped up the session with pizza and a chance to chat.

Office-Themed ‘Trick or Treat’

We brought a light-hearted version of ‘Trick or Treat’ into the office with randomised challenges and small rewards. Some people drew a treat – such as leaving work early or finding a hidden £20 – while others were tasked with clearing out the fridge or cleaning the George Foreman Grill.

It was a simple way to keep the atmosphere relaxed and bring a bit of variety to the day.

After-Work Games & Drinks

The day ended with an informal get-together after work. From 4:30pm, the team gathered for drinks, snacks, and a few games.

It was a relaxed environment where people could chat, unwind, and spend time with colleagues they might not work with day to day. Some took part in the games, while others caught up over a drink.

Events like this help to reinforce the informal connections that make a big difference to collaboration across teams. It was a great way to close out the Halloween celebrations and end the day on a positive note.

Why We Love Halloween at the Office

At QED Structures, we value a working environment that balances productivity with a sense of community. Events like this give us a chance to step back, enjoy each other’s company, and maintain the strong team dynamic we rely on every day.

Thanks to everyone who got involved this year.
